Birthday Party!

Unsere Grosse hatte Anfang der Sommerferien Geburtstag und weil dann natürlich kaum jemand da ist, haben wir eben nachgefeiert. Gestern!
Die Feier war schön, die Kinder hatten Spass und der Kuchen, den meine beiden mit verzieren durften, hatte geschmeckt (und schmeckt immer noch!).

It was our daughter's birthday in the beginning of the summer and because many people are on holiday then, we postponed the big party. It was yesterday!
The party was nice, the kids had a lot of fun and the cake, that my kids both helped to decorate, tasted good (it still does!).

Ich war übrigens überrascht, dass man aus Esspapier mit ganz normalen Stanzern auch schöne Formen stanzen kann. Die sind toll zum Verzieren. Das nächste Mal nehme ich mehrere Farben mit. =)

I was very surprised that paper puncher's were perfect for making nice shapes from wafer paper. The beautiful shapes are perfect to decorate cakes and desserts. Next time I'm going to take a few more coloured sheets. =)

Ich kann zwar recht schmackhaft backen, abba dann so zu dekorieren, dass man vor lauter Staunen nicht mehr zum Naschen kommt, das klappt einfach nicht... Macht aber trotzdem Spass!

Kleine Notizbüchlein - Little notebooks

Vor kurzem bekam ich ein kleines, liebes Geschenk von meiner Schwägerin Danielle: einen schönen Stoffapfel und eine Zeitschrift (Flow) mit Bastelteil: einem Büchlein zum selber basteln. Das hat Andrea gebastelt, um noch ein bisschen Schreiben zu üben und es hat richtig Spass gemacht. So viel, dass ich direkt noch ein paar Minibüchlein aus Tapetenmustern aus dem Baumarkt und Resten aus alten Heften dazugemacht habe. Für Notizen, kleine Kritzeleien der Kinder, Einkaufslisten, ...

=)

A little while ago, my sister-in-law Danielle gave me one of her lovely fabric apples and a magazine (flow) as a little present. It contained paper, the cover and the how-to to make a little booklet and Andrea made it to practice on her writing skills. It was so much fun that I also made a few little books with wallpaper-scraps and some left-over paper to fill with my favorite to-do lists, litlle notes or the kids' scribbles...

Gefilztes Täschchen - Felted Bag

Endlich ist sie fertig!

Gestern noch ein bisschen verziert (und mir einen bösen Blick eingefangen, weil die Fee doch eigentlich als Flicken auf eine Hose kommen sollte...).

Die Tasche ist ganz einfach gehäkelt und dann in der Waschmaschine gefilzt. Ist doch gar nicht mal so schlecht gelungen.

It's finally done!

Yesterday the bag was decorated with a few stitches (and someone gave me the evil eye for not using the fairy for another pair of jeans...).

The bag was crocheted very simply with some nice yarn and machine-felted.

No too bad, isn't it?

Muttertag - Mother's Day

Ich weiss, es ist schon eine Weile her und ich bin viel zu spät. Das Muttertagsgeschenk für meine Mama von Andrea und mir kam dafür einen Tag zu früh. Gilt das? ;)

Andrea hat ein schönes Bild gemalt das ich dann gescannt und klein ausgedruckt hinter einen Glasmosaikstein geklebt habe. Anhänger dran und in eine von meiner Maus verzierten Origmaischachtel verpackt, wurde es dann zusammen mit dem Original überreicht.
Ganz sicher ein Unikat.

I know, it's been a while ago and I am much too late. But this Mother's Day gift for my mother from Andrea and me was handed over one day early. Does that count? ;)

Andrea painted a beautiful picture which I scanned and printed out very small to glue behind a glas-square. It was given in an origami-box which Andrea had decorated very nicely and was given to my mother along with the original painting.
Definetely one of a kind.

Basilikumnudeln - Basil Noodles

Der erste Versuch mit Kräutern: Basilikum

(frisch geschnitten und auch ein El Basilikum-Olivenöl für's Aroma)

Ergebnis: Lecker!!!

First experiment with fresh herbs: Basil

(cut fresh and one Tablespoon of basil-infused olive oil for more flavor)

Result: Delicious!!!

Nudeln - Noodles

Letzte Woche hat es endlich mal geklappt: Es wurden Nudeln gemacht. So richtig mit Eiern und Mehl und einer Maschine zum Ausrollen.... Das hat so viel Spass gemacht, dass ich mir vorgenommen habe noch mehr zu machen. Mit Gewürzen, mit Gemüse, mit Kräutern, mit Füllung, breit, schmal, lang und kurz....  Ich hab' halt einfach zuviel Zeit. :)

Last week I finally did it: Homemade pasta! Real ones with fresh eggs and flour and a machine to get it rolled out as thin as possible... It was so much fun that I decided to make some more. With spices, with vegetables, with herbs, filled, broad ones, thin ones, long and short.... I just have too much time. :)

400g Mehl

4 Eier

etwas Salz

etwas Olivenöl

gut verkneten

400g flour

4 eggs

a pinch of salt

some olive oil

mix well

in Folie wickeln und eine Stunde im Kühlschrank ruhen lassen

wrap in foil and leave in the refridgerator for an hour

so dünn wie möglich ausrollen

roll out as thin as possible

Spagghetti schneiden

;)

cut into spagghetti

20 - 30 min trocknen lassen

dry for 20 - 30 min

2 - 3 min in kochendem Salzwasser gar werden lassen und geniessen.

So lecker....

Boil in salted water for 2 - 3 min and enjoy.

So delicious...

Häschen - Bunnies

In meiner Küche herrschte noch der Winter, die Schneeflocken hingen immer noch und jetzt musste einfach etwas unternommen werden. So wird das ja nie was mit dem Frühling! Jetzt baumeln ein paar weisse und pinke Häschen dran. Guckt mal:

It was still winter in my kitchen, the snowflakes were still hanging in the branches - something had to be done. It'll never be spring like this (at least not in my kitchen...)! Now a few white and pink bunnies are hiding in there. Look:

Aus Fimo ausgestochen und gebacken - ganz schnell (so eine Nudelmaschine ist einfach klasse zum Ausrollen! Hätte ich ja gar nicht gedacht! Könnte man auch mal Nudeln mit machen...).

=)

Cut out of fimo and baked for half an hour - done so quickly (a pasta machine works sooo nicely to roll it out so nice and thin. Incredible! It would probably work great to make pasta as well...)

Geburtstagskuchen - Birthday Cake

Max hatte Geburtstag und er war ja soooo aufgeregt. Das ganze Wochenende haben wir gefeiert und heute war dann noch seine grosse Party mit ein paar Freunden.

Toll fand Max seine Geburtstagstorte: Eine Marmor-Ritterburg. =) Für jeden einen Ritter zum Spielen mit dazu und die Party konnte beginnen.

Hat Spass gemacht!

Das Grünzeug ist übrigens grün gefärbte Sahne. ;)

We celebrated Max' Birthday and he was sooooo excited! There were guests throughout the weekend, lots of cake and today a big party with Max little friends.

A great surprise was the cake: A marble-castle. =) Every kid got a knight to play with the cake and the games could begin. It was so much fun!

And yummy, too. =)

The green stuff is green-coloured whipped cream. ;)

Schöne Steine - Beautiful Stones

Heute hatten wir endlich mal wieder Zeit zum Basteln.

Nur meine Maus und ich.

Erst wurden ein paar schöne Steine gesucht, in einer Schüssel mit viel Spüli gewaschen und dann verschönert. Eine Blume hier, eine Sonne da, etwas Glitter und ein paar Herzen.

Nach dem Lackieren fühlen sich die Steine auch ganz toll an.

Today we finally had some time again to craft.

My mouse and me.

We found a few nice stones and washed them first. With a lot of foam, of course.

And then we added some fabric. A flower here, a sun there some glitter and a few hearts.

With a coat of varnish the stones feel very nice and look really nice.

Great!

Blumen - Flowers

Die Nase trieft, es ist furchtbar kalt und kratzen muss man am Auto auch noch... Alles doof!

Schön ist es dann doch, dass endlich mal wieder die Sonne scheint (auch wenn man dabei direkt ans Fenster putzen denken muss....) und es schon ein bisschen nach Frühling riecht (bin halt erkältet, da bildet man sich das gerne ein :-)).

Also, weg mit dem Weihnachtsstern und her mit den Tulpen!

Verbessert die Laune garantiert.

Snotty noses, it's incredibly cold and the ice has to be scraped off the windshield again... :(

But finally the sun is out again (even though it reminds me to clean the windowns again...) and it smells a little bit like spring (I have a cold, I don't smell anything but I like to think that I do - it helps!)

So, gone is the poinsettia and welcome again, tulips!

Brightened mood guaranteed!

Oh, und was schönes zum Schmökern! Jetzt noch eine lecker Tasse Tee dazu und mein Tag ist perfekt!
