Endlich Schnee - Finally snow

Draussen schneit's und und ich hab'das Gefühl, es wird gar nicht mehr richtig warm im Haus. Und dann komme ich auch noch mit den Häkel-Schneeflocken und dekoriere meine Ästchen damit... Dabei hab' ich doch für mein Gefühl erst letzte Woche noch die Ostereier da raus geholt! (Na ja... das allerletzte hatte sich irgendwie so gut versteckt, dass ich es tatsächlich erst letzte Woche bemerkt hatte).
Aber schön ist es schon. Am Nachmittag ein paar Kerzen anzünden und dann wird's gemütlicher.
Hoffen wir dann mal!

It snows outside and I have the feeling that it's not getting warm at all anymore inside. But of course, I have to get the snow inside and decorate my kitchen twigs with the crocheted snowflakes... Although it seems to me that I only took out the eastereggs last week! (Well... the very last easteregg was hidden so well that I indeed noticed it only last week).
But it looks quite nice. And with a few candles it'll be quite cozy this afternoon.
Or so I hope!

Überraschung! - Surprise!

Erst einmal vorweg: Meine Kinder sind in den Niederlanden geboren, mein Mann ist Niederländer und wir sprechen zu Hause beide Sprachen durcheinander. Es wird dann auch am 5.12. Sinterklaas gefeiert und am 6. Nikolaus und das sorgt natürlich für so manche witzigen Bemerkungen von den Kindern: Andrea: "Erst kommt Sinterklaas, und dann Nikolaus, sein Assistent." Max: "Wann gibt es wieder Ostereier? Sinterklaas ist doch ein Hase, oder??"
Und so weiter...
=)
Gestern haben dann die Kinder nach holländischer Sitte* Ihre Schuhe hingestellt, ein Liedchen gesungen und Wasser, Äpfel und eine Möhre für das Pferd von Sinterklaas hingestellt. Ein Bildchen war auch noch dabei. Es konnt also nichts mehr schief gehen.
Heute morgen dann war das Wasser weg, die Äpfel auch und die Möhre nur halb aufgegessen.... Max: "Das kann doch nicht wahr sein!" Andrea hat nur noch die Schokoladenbuchstaben und die Hörspiel-CD's gesehen, die zurückgelassen wurden.
...Und sie haben sich beide riesig gefreut.

Mein Mann hat's auch versucht, die ganze Obstschale stand neben seinem Schuh. Aber es hat nur für ein Tütchen Cappuccino gereicht. Vielleicht hätte er doch auch mitsingen sollen.

*Sobald Sinterklaas Mitte November mit dem Boot aus Spanien in den Niederlanden angekommen ist, bringt er den Kindern, die ihre Schuhe hinstellen, eine Kleinigkeit. ...Hätte ich das früher gewusst... ;-)


First of all: My kids were born in the Netherlands. My husband is Dutch and at home, we speak a mix of both Dutch and German. So, we're celebrating Sinterklaas on dec. 5th and Nikolaus the next day. Of course the kids start to wonder and say so many funny things like: Andrea: "First there is Sinterklaas. And then, there is Nikolaus, his assistant." Max: "When will we have Eastereggs again? Sinterklaas, he is a bunny, right?"
And so on...
=)
Yesterday, according to dutch customs*  the kids put their shoes in front of the door (inside - it was freezing!), sang a song and prepared apples, a carrot and some water for Sinterklaas' horse - and a little painting for Sinterklaas, of course.
This morning the water was gone, as were the apples and half of the carrot. Max: "This can't be true!" Andrea only had eyes for the chocolate character and the cd's. Smiles all around. =)

My husband tried as well - even put the whole fruit bowl next to his shoe. But he only got one sachet for a cappuccino... Maybe next time he should sing along?

* As soon as Sinterklaas has arrived in the Netherlands with his boat from Spain halfway in november , he puts a little gift into the kids' shoes when they put them in front of the chimney or the door. ...If only I had known this sooner... ;-)

Einfach schön

... Sind die Kreationen von Ann Wood. Was mit Karton und Stoff doch alles zaubern kann. Schöööön!

The creations from Ann Wood are just incredibly beautiful. Amazing how she turns some cardboard and fabric into something really beautiful.

Häkelväschen - Crochet Vases

Endlich sind sie fertig: Die passenden Vasen für meinen monochromatischen Hauswirtschaftsraum. ;-)
Konnte ich die Wurstgläser doch noch gebrauchen!
Im Moment findet man diese Vasen ja wirklich überall, aber sie sind ja auch schön und so einfach zu machen - und zu dekorieren.
Viellecht kommen ja noch ein paar farbigere für die Küche.
Mal schau'n.

Right now these vases can be seen everywhere, but they are quite pretty and easy to make - and to dekorate.
Maybe I'm going to make a few more coloured ones for the kitchen.

Es kommen dann noch weisse Schränke und eine weisse Kommode von unserem Lieblingsschweden davor... Ich kann's kaum noch erwarten!

...Das Päckchen mit den Armbändchen, das ich auf Reise nach Amerika geschickt hatte. Gestern kam ein Päckchen mit Kette, Armbändchen und einer Puppe für Andrea zurück. Was für eine schöne Überraschung!

Gefunden - I found this

Das habe ich gestern in einem Stapel alter Papiere gefunden: Eine Zeichnung (von mir!) von vor 14 Jahren! Die hatte ich total vergessen (und auch, wie man so gut zeichent...). Jetzt mache ich mich auf die Suche nach einem passenden Rahmen. Ist doch zu schade, um einfach weiter zu stapeln.

This I found yesterday in a pile of old papers of mine: A drawing (mine!) from 14 years ago! I totally forgot about this one (and I also forgot how to actually draw like this...). Now I'm going to look for a nice frame. It would be a pity to have it just lying around some more.

Nikolaussocken - Stockings

Diese Nikolaussocken habe ich schon letztes Jahr gemacht, aber jetzt erst wieder gefunden. Morgen werden sie im Kindergarten abgegeben und vorher wollte ich sie nur noch eben zeigen. =)

I made these stockings last year already and only took them out of storage again now. Tomorrow they'll go to kindergarten, but I wanted to show them here first. =)

Häkelbändchen - Crochet ribbons

In der letzten Woche hatte ich ein wenig Zeit zum Häkeln - kleine Sachen wie z. B. noch ein paar Schneeflöckchen und Sterne. Dazu gesellten sich dann noch ein paar Bändchen, die jetzt eiligst auf ein schönes Stück Stoff warten, um so bald wie möglich ein Täschchen zu schmücken. Mal sehen, was sich daraus machen lässt.

This last week I had some time to crochet a little bit. I made little things like more snowflakes and stars and also a few ribbons. They're now pretty impatiently waiting for a nice little piece of fabric to decorate a little bag. Let's see, what can be done with them.

Schönes Lämpchen - Nice little lamp

Das hat Andrea letzte Woche vom Basteln in der Schule mitgebracht.

Andrea brought this home vom crafting at school last week.

 

 

Schöne Servietten wurden ausgesucht und die bedruckte Lage vorsichtig abgezupft. Laminiert, gelocht, geschnitten und geknüpft und mit einem einfachen Teelicht sieht das Ganze dann so aus.

Beautiful Papernapkins were chosen en the printed layer taken off carefully. This was laminated, punched, cut and tied and with a simple candle it looks like this.

Schön, nicht wahr? Und so eine schöne Idee für ...Grosseltern oder Nachbarn?

Reine Übungssache - A matter of practice

Es klappt immer besser mit meiner Nähmaschine. Seitdem ich anderes Nähgarn benutze, reisst der Faden nicht mehr immer und kann ich mich voll auf meine kleine Näharbeit konzentrieren.
Gestern habe ich direkt drei kleine Herzchen gemacht. Hat richtig Spass gemacht und man sieht richtig, wie jedes Herz ein bisschen besser gelang.

My sewing machine and I get along better and better. Since I tried to use a different thread  it's not breaking off every now and so often and I can better concentrate on my little work.
Yesterday I made three little hearts. It was a lot of fun and it is nicely visible how every new heart turnes out a bit better than the one before.



Bei einem der Herzen hatte ich das Bändchen versehentlich gleich zweimal mit angenäht. ;0)
Zum Glück findet Andrea es am schönsten von allen dreien und hat es direkt adoptiert.

But luckily Andrea loved it the most and adopted it right away.



Das Bändchen von einem der Herzchen habe ich selbst gehäkelt - und meine Sternchen kommen auf den Resten von Max alter Jeans auch ganz gut zur Geltung.

The lace-ribbon of one of the hearts was hand-crocheted - and the little stars come out pretty nicely on the remains of Max old pair of jeans.

St. Martin

Kinderzimmerschätze - Little treasures

Heute musste ich einfach mal ausmisten im Spielzimmer - meine beiden Mäuse hatten schon nicht mehr genug Platz zum Spielen und haben den ganzen Kram mit ins Wohnzimmer gebracht. Also: aufräumen. Hat sich gelohnt! Ich wollte erst nur 10 Minuten wühlen und war nach eineinhalb Stunden endlich soweit, dass man jetzt wieder ungestört spielen kann. Morgen noch mal und mal sehen, was ich dann finde, weil...

Today I had to declutter the playing room a bit - my little ones didn't had enough space to play anymore and took their whole things into the living room. So: time to clean up - and it was worth it! At first I only wanted to declutter for 10 minutes but told myself after one and a half hours that it was enough to play nice in there again.Tomorrow I'll do another session and let's see what I'll find then, because....

Ausflug - A Day Out

Heute ging's in den Tierpark. Das Wetter war schön und man konnte gaaaanz viel sehen, riechen, fühlen und bei einer Tombola sogar gewinnen (Noch 'ne Tasse... Juhuu...). Die Kinder fanden's klasse, wir hatten unseren Spass. Und danach erst mal zuhause wieder auftauen bei heissem Kakao, weil's ja schon echt saukalt wird, da draussen.

Today we went to the zoo. It was sunny and there was so much to see, smell, feel and even win (yay.... another mug...). The kids loved it and we had quite some fun. And some hot cocolate to get warmed up afterwards, because it's already getting pretty cold.

Schneeflöckchen - Little Snowflakes

Endlich hab ich's mal geschafft: vor'm Computer mit der Häkelnadel bewaffnet sitzen und einer Anleitung Schritt für Schritt zu folgen ;-). Und entstanden sind dabei diese Schneeflöckchen von attic24. Meine sind ein wenig kleiner (die grossen kommen noch - muss ja auch noch erst richtig Winter werden!) aber sehr schön, finde ich.

Finally I found the time to really sit in front of the computer for a while with my crochet hook and followed a tutorial step by step. And I made the snowflakes from attic24. Mine are somewhat smaller (the bigger ones will follow - it's not winter yet!), but I like them very much.





Ich habe auch ein paar kleine Sternchen gemacht. Guckt mal!
I also made a few little stars. Look!



Sie werden schon bald die kahlen Zweige in der Küche schmücken.
They're going to look great on the twigs in the kitchen.



Und aus ein paar Schneeflocken werden bis zum richtigen Winter schon mal ein paar schöne Lesezeichen. Kann man ja immer gebrauchen, nicht?

A few snowflakes were used already to make some nice bookmaks. I always need a few around here... =) 

Fimo-Ketten - Polymerclay Necklaces

Gestern haben wir geknetet: mit Fimo. Nach dem Vorbild von lilla a haben Andrea und ich also erst ein paar Scheiben geplättet und dann mit Stiftekappen Muster eingedrückt. Dann sind auch noch ein paar Knöpfe (Salamiknöpfe... hihi) und Perlen entstanden. Und Andrea hat sogar noch einen schönen Sternanhänger gemacht. Schön, nicht?

Yesterday we made something with polymerclay. Just as shown at lilla a Andrea and me made a few flat disks and pressed some pen-caps on the to make beautiful patterns. We also made a few buttons (salamibuttons... ;-)) and beads. And Andrea even made a star-shaped pendant. Beautiful, isn't it?

Ich seh Sternchen... - I see stars...

Heute war irgendwie der Wurm drin. Andrea war krank zuhause (mit Mandelentzündung) und mir ging's auch nicht gerade sooo dolle. Also viel spielen, lesen und ein wenig basteln. Andrea hat sich dabei als echtes Talent entpuppt, was das Sterne falten betrifft.

Und wenn ich mal echt nicht mehr weiss, was ich nun mit den Sternen machen soll, wissen meine beiden Süssen sich damit noch seeeehr schön zu beschäftigen. =)



Today wasn't my day. Andrea had to stay home with a sore throat and I wasn't doing too well either. So we played a lot, read and crafted a little bit together. Andrea has real talented making the lucky stars.

And if I have no idea of what I want to do with the lucky stars, my two little sweethearts might have an idea or two... and hours of fun. =)
